CHAPTER FIVE- A QUICK STEP BACK

Okay- so now you know a bit about your tools, and how to create some simple animation. It's time to take a quick step back, and learn how to change the basic properties of your movie.

Press "ctrl-J" to bring up the Movie Properities window.

I have never really messed about with the title and description text fields, but if you're the particular sort, feel free to enter all the info you want.

Likewise, unless I'm producing a small advertisement or banner, I leave the dimensions as-is. The default settings (550X400) has become the web standard for about 99% of what's out there.

As you can probably tell by looking at any of my own animations, you know what I always have my background color set to black.

The frame rate is set by default to 12 frames per second. I usually work with it set to 15, or 20 (depending on how tightly things need to be synched to a given soundtrack- more on that, later.) A higher framerate will produce a smoother animation, but be warned- it will also lead to larger file sizes.
